Blues 22 Waratahs 20

A close game, but I did not feel like I was on the edge of my seat all the time. The first half was best forgotten by both sides. You could have arrived at half time and missed nothing. Both sides making handling errors, and the Waratahs looked nothing like the competition leaders. Still, they managed to get their nose in front on half time thanks to Troy ( nice one ) Flavell. So it was 6-3 at the break. No doubt Peter Sloane gave them the message at the break. The Blues were full of purpose and looked likely to score. A short pass to Muliaina was intercepted by McRae and the Blues were staring at 13-3. Around this time Sharky Robinson got a bad cut to the head, and Spencer copped a beauty to the face. A wee groan started in my tummy. I could see this could be the turning point in the game. Both incidents were missed by the camera, but Carlos let us know who he thought was the culprit. Still the Blues pressed on, and a four on two loomed, with a possible intercept again. But not this time, as Howlett sped through to score. Back came the Blues and Meeuws powered over in the corner. Arlidge converted and it was 15-13 to the Blues. Both Sharky and Carlos had returned bandaged up. Carlos looked like he could have been a prop for the " Mummy Returns ". Another attack from the Blues, and Gear takes a great pass to slice through under the posts. Around this time Murray Mexted came out with one of his classic comments saying that Rico Gear sounded like he was some " Drug Baron ". Anyway, the Blues were home, nearly. A late try by the Waratahs off a pass 2 metres forward gave them a bonus point. Thanks Andre. Still you had a good game. Now its off to Sth Africa to do some Shark hunting.
