... ANDREW MEHRTENS! Thats who!
The Mehrts we saw on in the 3rd Bledisloe test on Saturday night was a shadow of that great player.
Why?
I think this lack of confidence had its origins with John Hart's disgraceful blaming of Mehrts for the Melbourne loss against the Aussies.The coach should be giving his players confidence, not slagging them off in the media.
John Hart's much vaunted PR skills seemingly non-existent.
Sadly Hart's lack of belief in his players doesn't stop with Mehrtens, it also seems to be affecting Mehrts greatest rival, Carlos Spencer. Now I'm a Cantabrian, & even though Carlos comes across as a complete prat half the time, even a one eyed Cantabrian has to acknowledge his skill.
But where has Carlos's confidence gone?. Down the gurgler thats where, probably playing poker with Mehrts's dearly departed belief.
John Hart has a lot to answer for.
NZer's know the talents of these fabulous players. Cantabs worship the ground on which Mehrts walks, he's a hero in Canterbury.
He should be back to his old self in the NPC for the mighty Red and Blacks, but as for the AB's......maybe under a coach who believes in him........Robbie perhaps?
