Have just stumbled onto the Official RBS Six Nations website which once final squads are announced will be brilliant as a one stop shop for all our needs provided latest news gets through as fast as say bbc or planetrugby sites. It even has pen pics of all players chosen..... final squads confirmed late January....take a look for youselves---- http://www.6nations.net/splash.htmTR site for 6-N will be ready about then too! A bit of early homework will save the rush next month when both comps 6-N & S-12 @ TR(and probably FR) as well as ]Rugby Comp (our own), virtual s-12 & several others! Hint - Several key 6-N players are injured at present....get onto it! Cheers, Baz

STOP PRESS..... STOP PRESS.....STOP PRESS (Updated WELSH 6-N SQUAD -------repacing squad I published above article from bbc.co.uk............ Yapp Wins Wales Six Nations Call Ruddock backs Yapp's credentials.... Blues prop John Yapp is the only uncapped player in Wales' 31-man squad for the forthcoming RBS Six Nations. The 21-year-old, 6ft 2in loose-head replaces the Ospreys' Duncan Jones, out until March with a broken thumb. Lock Ian Gough is back after impressing for the Dragons, and hooker Robin McBryde returns after a neck injury. A place is left for prop Iestyn Thomas who has a neck problem, whilst flanker Colin Charvis is expected to shake off an ankle injury to face England. Ospreys loose-head prop Paul James will also join up with the squad next week for Wales coach Mike Ruddock to monitor his progress. Charvis has met Wales physio Mark Davies to determine the extent of the damage he did to the ankle whilst playing in Newcastle's Heineken Cup win over the Dragons last Sunday. Wales coach Mike Ruddock said he believes the 75-capped flanker will recover in time for the 5 February opener provided he is given sufficient rest. It looks as if those players in France will be returned to France to play, and probably the same in England Wales coach Mike Ruddock "He's struggling to be fit for training next week and he shouldn't play a game for Newcastle a week before the Test against England," Ruddock told BBC Wales Sport. "He should be fine for the England match if that sort of right treatment is provided." Ruddock's preparations for the opening match have also been disrupted after a plea for help from French clubs fell on death ears. He wanted captain Gareth Thomas (Toulouse), Stephen Jones (Clermont Auvergne) and Gareth Llewellyn (Narbonne) to miss club matches on Saturday, 28 January. Wales eye foreign Six Nations aid A similar request had been made to Newcastle for Charvis and to Gloucester in respect of hooker Mefin Davies. But Ruddock revealed: "It looks as if those players in France will be returned to France to play, and probably the same in England; although that hasn't been finalised yet. "Rob Andrew [Newcastle coach] has said he wants Charvis to play, but that's a slightly different matter because he's carrying an injury. "But what this tells me and the young players in Wales is that going away from Wales will create a problem." The Welsh regions have agreed not to select their Wales squad players for their Celtic League fixtures the weekend prior to the England game. Ruddock will assemble his squad - including the exiled players - on 23 January for the first training session. Backs: G Thomas (Toulouse, capt), K Morgan (Newport Gwent Dragons), R Williams (Cardiff Blues), S Williams (Neath-Swansea Ospreys), H Luscombe (Newport Gwent Dragons), T Shanklin (Cardiff Blues), S Parker (Neath-Swansea Ospreys), G Henson (Neath-Swansea Ospreys), C Sweeney (Newport Gwent Dragons), Stephen Jones (Clermont Auvergne), D Peel (Llanelli Scarlets), G Cooper (Newport Gwent Dragons), M Phillips (Llanelli Scarlets). Forwards: A Jones (Neath-Swansea Ospreys), G Jenkins (Cardiff Blues), A N Other, J Yapp (Cardiff Blues), M Davies (Gloucester), R McBryde (Llanelli Scarlets), Steve Jones (Newport Gwent Dragons), B Cockbain (Neath-Swansea Ospreys), G Llewellyn (Narbonne), R Sidoli (Cardiff Blues), L Charteris (Newport Gwent Dragons), I Gough (Newport Gwent Dragons), D Jones (Llanelli Scarlets), J Thomas (Neath-Swansea Ospreys), C Charvis (Newcastle), M Williams (Cardiff Blues), M Owen (Newport Gwent Dragons), R Jones (Neath-Swansea Ospreys). Straight form RBS 6-N site! Tait to make England debut ! Newcastle teenager Mathew Tait will make his England debut in the RBS 6 Nations Championship clash against Wales on Saturday. Tait, 19 a day after the Millennium Stadium showdown, has gained England head coach Andy Robinson's seal of approval as replacement for the injured Mike Tindall. Tait will be partnered in the centre by his Newcastle colleague Jamie Noon, who takes over from Henry Paul. Gloucester playmaker Paul is dropped following his unhappy display when England lost to Australia at Twickenham last November. Other changes from the defeat against the Wallabies see World Cup scrum-half Matt Dawson recalled instead of Andy Gomarsall, Leicester lock Ben Kay replacing Steve Borthwick and Gloucester flanker Andy Hazell making his first RBS 6 Nations start. Hazell will feature at openside flanker, with Lewis Moody moving to the blindside role and Wasps' Joe Worsley lining up at number eight. There are five personnel changes following the Australia clash plus the back row positional switches of Moody and Worsley. Robinson goes into his first RBS 6 Nations game at the helm without the injured Tindall, Jonny Wilkinson, Will Greenwood, Stuart Abbott, Richard Hill and Martin Corry but both Noon and Hazell have been selected despite suffering injury scares during the latest round of Premiership action. Dawson (calf strain) and Moody (hamstring), meanwhile, rested injuries at the weekend and did not play for their clubs. Tait becomes the youngest England player since his Newcastle team-mate Wilkinson was capped as an 18-year-old almost six years ago, and Robinson said: "I have never been afraid to select young talented players if I feel they are ready. "Mathew Tait has demonstrated to me he has the form and speed to earn his place in the starting XV." England team to play Wales in the RBS 6 Nations Championship in Cardiff on Saturday: J Robinson (Sale Sharks, capt); M Cueto (Sale Sharks), M Tait (Newcastle), J Noon (Newcastle), J Lewsey (Wasps); C Hodgson (Sale Sharks), M Dawson (Wasps); G Rowntree (Leicester), S Thompson (Northampton), J White (Leicester), D Grewcock (Bath), B Kay (Leicester), L Moody (Leicester), A Hazell (Gloucester), J Worsley (Wasps). Replacements: A Titterrell (Sale Sharks), P Vickery (Gloucester), S Borthwick (Bath), J Forrester (Gloucester), H Ellis (Leicester), O Barkley (Bath), B Cohen (Northampton). Makes a mockery of some earlier injury lists! but an interesting line-up! Will be watching Cueto, Noon & Tait with interest! Cheers, Baz

Again from 6-N site the Welsh Team release! Martyn Williams fit to face England Former Wales skipper Martyn Williams has been declared fit to face world champions England. The Cardiff Blues flanker will win his 50th cap in Saturday's RBS 6 Nations Championship clash at the Millennium Stadium, replacing the injured Colin Charvis. Williams has recovered from disc trouble in his neck and will pack down in a side showing three changes - plus one positional switch - from the side edged out by New Zealand just over two months ago. Williams' Cardiff colleague, lock Robert Sidoli, earns a recall at the expense of 92 times-capped veteran Gareth Llewellyn, while Tom Shanklin moves from wing to centre as deputy for neck injury victim Sonny Parker, and Newport Gwent Dragons' Hal Luscombe is handed the number 14 jersey. "Martyn comes into the side as a more than able replacement for Colin," said Ruddock. "His experience as a Lion, and 49 caps for Wales, will be important. "His availability is a huge boost because it retains the blend of what we wanted in the team, in terms of an experienced openside flanker who can provide a quality link between backs and forwards as we attempt to continue development of a high-tempo game. "It is obviously a blow to lose Sonny Parker with the neck problem which has ruled him out of the last few Ospreys matches, but Tom is also a more than capable replacement who was already in contention to start. "Sidoli, meanwhile, has not started a Test match since February last year, but he will now win his 21st cap after recovering from pelvic surgery and slowly regaining top form. "Rob has very much played his way back into the team due to his performances for the Blues in recent months," added Ruddock. "Ultimately, we were faced with a number of welcome selection headaches, which augers well for the future as the squad continues to grow and develop." Wales team to play England in the RBS 6 Nations Championship at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff, on Saturday: G Thomas (Toulouse, capt); Luscombe (Newport Gwent Dragons), Shanklin (Cardiff Blues), Henson (Neath-Swansea Ospreys), S Williams (Neath-Swansea Ospreys); S Jones (Clermont Auvergne), Peel (Llanelli Scarlets); Jenkins (Cardiff Blues), Davies (Gloucester), A Jones (Neath-Swansea Ospreys), Cockbain (Neath-Swansea Ospreys), Sidoli (Cardiff Blues), D Jones (Llanelli Scarlets), M Williams (Cardiff Blues), Owen (Newport Gwent Dragons). Replacements: McBryde (Llanelli Scarlets), Yapp (Cardiff Blues), J Thomas (Neath-Swansea Ospreys), R Jones (Neath-Swansea Ospreys), Cooper (Newport Gwent Dragons), Sweeney (Newport Gwent Dragons), Morgan (Newport Gwent Dragons). Good to see Martyn Wiiliams back.....shouldn't lose a thing from Charvis' absence! Cheers, Baz

And now the French team release from Planetrugby site which highlights the real injury crisis...mainly in France & England France name side to face Scotland Tuesday February 01 2005 Michalak dropped France have named their side for the RBS Six Nations opener with Scotland at Stade de France on Saturday, making wholesale changes to the XV that buckled to New Zealand in November. Yann the Man: Delaigue wins a start at fly-half Halfback Frédéric Michalak is named on the bench, with France coach Bernard Laporte opting to field Yann Delaigue at pivot. Michalak's 31-year-old usurper will win his 13th cap on merit after impressing for Castres this season, and forms one half of Laporte's 23rd different halfback pairing since he took up the French reins in 1999. Experienced Clermont-Auvergne scrum-half Pierre Mignoni is the man tasked with partnering Delaigue. He takes the over from Julien Peyrelongue who faced the All Blacks, with Dimitri Yachvili remaining on the bench. "We need someone to take charge at scrum-half and Pierre has the right credentials to take up the challenge," said Laporte. Mignoni has not played for France since the 2002 championship when he was used mainly as a replacement for the now retired Fabien Galthie. Injuries to Imanol Harinordoquy, Olivier Magne and Serge Betsen have lead to a completely new back row formation - Julien Bonnaire and Sebastien Chabal take up the flanks and Patrick Tabacco wins the No.8 berth. Explaining his decision to select Tabacco at the base of the scrum ahead of Bonnaire, Laporte said: "Patrick played as a No.8 in the 2003 World Cup so this was a logical choice for us even though we could have also chosen Julien. Taking Patrick is a wise choice because he has a lot of experience." Further injuries to Yannick Jauzion and Nicolas Brusque mean that Laporte has recalled centre Damien Traille and fullback Pépito Elhorga. In fact, with Tony Marsh also unavailable and Clement Poitrenaud suffering a dip in form, only two backs survive from the New Zealand game - Aurélien Rougerie and Brian Liebenberg. Delaigue will be the first-choice goal-kicker, supported by Traille. France: 15 Pépito Elhorga (Agen), 14 Aurélien Rougerie (Clermont), 13 Brian Liebenberg (Stade Français), 12 Damien Traille (Biarritz), 11 Christophe Dominici (Stade Français), 10 Yann Delaigue (Castres), 9 Pierre Mignoni (Clermont), 8 Patrick Tabacco (Pau), 7 Sébastien Chabal (Sale Sharks), 6 Julien Bonnaire (Bourgoin), 5 Jérôme Thion (Biarritz), 4 Fabien Pelous (Stade Toulousain, captain), 3 Pieter de Villiers (Stade Français), 2 William Servat (Stade Toulousain), 1 Sylvain Marconnet (Stade Français). Replacements: 16 Sébastien Bruno (Sale), 17 Olivier Milloud (Bourgoin), 18 Grégory Lamboley (Stade Toulousain), 19 Yannick Nyanga (Béziers), 20 Dimitri Yachvili (Biarritz), 21 Frédéric Michalak (Stade Toulousain), 22 Ludovic Valbon (Brive). 3 down & 3 to go! Cheers, Baz

Now Irish team release from 6-N site.....perhaps the most predictable & settled team of all who must be favourites at this stage. D'Arcy back for Ireland Ireland coach Eddie O'Sullivan has recalled Leinster centre Gordon D'Arcy to the side for Sunday's RBS 6 Nations clash against Italy at the Stadio Flaminio. D'Arcy - last year's player of the championship - missed the November internationals through injury but has reclaimed his place in the line-up and will resume his midfield partnership with skipper Brian O'Driscoll. Girvan Dempsey makes way for D'Arcy - the Leinster full-back must settle for a place on the bench - while Leicester star Geordan Murphy takes the number 15 jersey with Shane Horgan reverting to the wing. The second change to the team who defeated Argentina in the autumn sees Wasps openside Johnny O'Connor lose out to in-form Munster back row Denis Leamy, who will win his second cap on Sunday. Ireland team to face Italy at the Stadio Flaminio in the RBS 6 Nations on Sunday: G Murphy (Leicester), S Horgan (Leinster), B O'Driscoll (Leinster, capt), G D'Arcy (Leinster), D Hickie (Leinster), R O'Gara (Munster), P Stringer (Munster), R Corrigan (Leinster), S Byrne (Leinster), J Hayes (Munster), M O'Kelly (Leinster), P O'Connell (Munster), S Easterby (Llanelli), D Leamy (Munster), A Foley (Munster). Replacements: F Sheahan (Munster), M Horan (Munster), D O'Callaghan (Munster), E Miller (Leinster), G Easterby (Leinster), D Humphreys (Ulster), G Dempsey (Leinster). That's 4....hope these save you ducking & diving through cyberspace? Cheers, Baz

You are a gentleman and a scholar. Saved me heaps of searching. You are right about the injuries though... will post my suggested team tomorrow and see what you think. Will pass them on to Messy
I expect the Italians to be last to name (they always are) and the Scots don't matter...LOL

Penultimate release from 6-N site Scotland coach rings the changes Scotland coach Matt Williams has made seven changes, including two positional switches, for the opening RBS 6 Nations Championship match against France in Paris on Saturday. Hugo Southwell has moved from full-back to inside centre with Chris Paterson taking on the number 15 role. Italy finally now! Troncon picked at scrum-half A doubt over the fitness of Paul Griffen means former captain Alessandro Troncon has been preferred at scrum-half for Italy's opening RBS 6 Nations clash with Ireland in Rome on Sunday. Troncon, who is Italy's most capped player ever with 85 appearances, missed the whole of last year's Six Nations tournament because of a knee injury. But Italy coach John Kirwan has opted for the experienced 31-year-old because Griffen is struggling with a hamstring problem. Griffen, who has been Italy's first-choice number nine in recent times, is likely to start on the bench where he will be joined by New Zealand-born winger Kaine Robertson, who played against Italy for the World XV in last Saturday's All Star match in Catania. Captain Marco Bortolami has recovered from flu and will lead his side while Luciano Orquera, born in Argentina, will make his debut on the wing. Kirwan's only real concern is at hooker, where he will decide who will start between Fabio Ongaro and Giorgio Intoppa closer to the match. Neither player is 100% with Ongaro sustaining a groin injury in training earlier this week while Intoppa, like Bortolami, has also been struggling with flu. Both forwards are expected to be fit for the match, however, and Kirwan is likely to go for Ongaro to start. Italy team: R De Marigny (Parma); Mirco Bergamasco (Stade Francais), G Canale (Treviso), A Masi (Viadana), L Nitoglia (Calvisano); L Orquera (Petrarca Padova), A Troncon (Treviso); A Lo Cicero (L'Aquila), F Ongaro (Treviso)/Giorgio Intoppa (Calvisano), M Castrogiovanni (Calvisano), M Bortolami (Narbonne, captain), S Dellape' (Agen), A Persico (Agen), Mauro Bergamasco (Stade Francais), S Parisse (Treviso). Replacements: S Perugini (Calvisano), G Intoppa (Calvisano)/Carlo Festuccia (Rugby Parma), CA Del Fava (Parma), D Dal Maso (Treviso), P Griffen (Calvisano)/P Travagli (Viadana), W Pozzebon (Treviso), PK Robertson (Viadana). Well Mauro Bergamasco, Masi & Troncon are worth a look here but Ongaro (under an injury cloud) is too much of a risk at present) Hope this makes your R 1 job easier! Cheers, Baz
