I left with 5 to go, at the time Canes were leading 47-14.

The Hurricanes seemed well drilled and played error free rugby. They were so impressive that it wouldn't surprise me if they made the top 4. The depth that they have this year was surprising as well, when they subbed it was one good player for another good one.

There were many standout performances, Nonu grabbed a hat trick, all three tries simple breaks in the Chiefs line. Scott Waldrom was everywhere when he was on, Herring is going to have a tough battle for the seven jersey. I think Boss enjoyed playing his old team mates, while when Weepu came on he showed us why he is a All Black with his normal style of play.

As for the Chiefs, I'd rather not talk about it.

The Stomers were a bit rusty in the beginning, but eventually ran out whipping Newport 47-17. For you Fantasy buffs, Chavanga, be sure to put him in at least one team.

Cheers, Kobe.

You have earned a karma point, Kobe,     for even reporting on this match from Pukekohe as it wouldn't have done anything for your mood     drivng home afterwards or the Chiefs' morale so close to the start of S-12!

I have seen nothing but xtrasport's review online this morning which told me little about who played but I have assumed that Bunting at centre means the injury list is almost as bad as last season's horror for Waikato.

Apart from Ma'a Nonu & Scott Waldrom's     scintillating early season form and the continued development of the pack under Jamie Joseph,  I see the most encouraging sign is how well Jimmy Gopperth has slotted into first-five. I am convinced that he is a far better long-term prospect than Flutey to fill the boots of Davey Holwell

The 'Canes can now be confident facing the Blues in Hastings next week   ( Feb 11) before embarking on a 3-match opening stanza to their 2005 campaign on the road.....in Brisbane (Reds- Feb 26th ), Johannesburg (Cats- Mar 6 ) & Durban (Sharks-Mar 12)

Not an easy start..... but initial signs are reassuring

             Cheers,
                    Baz  Wink
P.S. Was it that sublime, Kobe , to post in Fantasy Rugby?  Lips Sealed

(per kind favour of my technowizard ,Tesrof!)

Hey!

It would be great if you guys could use a few more emoticons.  Remember it is theoretically possible to fit at least one between every letter in a posting.

Cheers!
