Hey guys. Well the Super 14 season is almost upon us and the 6 Nations has kicked off so even though it's only Feb we have started thinking about rugby, and Rugbyheads.

One thing that was on the to-do list for most of last year was to upgrade our discussion board software from the "no longer supported" YABBSE code-base to the "lots of people working on it" SMF code-base. (I know that last bit will mean jack-shit to most of you but for those who care that's what we have done.)

Well tonight I have done just that.  Shocked

The transition seems to have gone pretty smoothly and on the surface hopefully no-one will notice much difference, however under the hood there are a bunch of new features that should be good for all of us.

As I get my head around them I'll try to explain them but in the meantime if you find something new that you think is cool or you have any problems then please let me know, either via this thread or via a private message on the board.

There are a few other little tweaks and upgrades that we have planned for the site too but I can't see most of those getting out the door before Super 14 kickoff on Friday!

As they happen I'll be sure to let you know though. Smiley

Cheers, Jules

Jules .... This was already an awesome site and I am sure the work you have been doing on it will make it even better. (the attaching of jpg's will be an awesome feature, its always been frustrating have non web based photos but not being able to share them). Thanks for your commitment and dedication to the site, it’s a wonderful place to garner information from and learn what is really going on in NZ. If you are ever in Sydney drop me a line............. beers on me.

Cheers

Well what do you know, there is an attach image option under "Additional Options..."when you post. As you can see from the image below (of captain Richie) it works, once I tweaked a few settings on the server side!

The image size is limited to 100kb, which is alright I think for images but let me know if you have a good reason to make it any bigger.

Nice spotting Dingo and thanks for the kind words, I feel like I've neglected Rugbyheads a bit much in the last year or so but it's been really cool to see it have a live of it's own with the likes of EREHWON WARRIORS really taking on a defacto moderator role.

This season should be different I hope, I need to get my board post count up there, I'm not even on the top 10 posters anymore!!  Shocked

Karma features should be working. they are for me at least. You need to be logged into the board for them to work, maybe that was your problem Dingo?

Ndub, as for my drinking abilities it's been a good few years since I approached the offer of free beers with a "you'll regret that offer!" attitude, but if there is one thing I do like it's a challenge! Smiley

Ooooh, more toys for me to play with!

Attaching a worthwhile mpg file of less than 100kb will be a challenge!
... Maybe the best bits of Ireland's performance against Italy  Wink

+K for making an upgrade which only slowly dawned on me as some variations in menus, rather than as a set of problems.  I know that a software 'migration' can bring problems in the way that migrating birds bring bird-flu, so well done for a swan-like transition (serenely moving on, as a result of energetic paddling hidden from view).

Cheers
