How can you keep your body in good condition for longer? I suspect that DH's chip diet may not work in the long term  Cheesy

I've just started a home business and I hope you can check out my website. Cheers

Thanks everyone for your interest so far. The website has recorded a few hits - pity I don't get pay per click!

I've genuinely got a great product here guys. Here's some info about nutrional supplementation:

----

Generally, most people are not too clued up about nutrition. For example, most people think they get sufficient nutrients from their diet, and that all supplements are the same.

You can get all the vitamins etc. you need from your food to avoid acute deficiency diseases such as scurvy, rickets, beriberi and pellagra. However, studies are showing that food today is less nutritious than it was 50 years ago; mainly due to intensive agricultural practices, green picking, gas ripening, long-term storage, and breeding crops for rapid growth and bulk  Tongue.

Other studies have also shown that more than 95% of people do not regularly eat a balanced, nutritious diet. In addition, the RDA's that are commonly used as guidelines were only meant to be the absolute minimum to avoid the short-term, acute deficiency diseases mentioned above.

In the last decade there has been an increasing amount of evidence showing how the right balance of good quality anti-oxidants, vitamins and minerals can reduce long-term, or chronic, degenerative diseases such as coronary heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, arthritis, osteoporosis and Alzheimer's. In fact, studies published in the Journal of the American Medical Association now recommend that Adults take a multi-vitamin supplement daily.

In New Zealand dietary supplements are regulated under the Dietary Supplement Regulations 1985, made under the Food Act 1981. There is no pre-market approval process for dietary supplements, but manufacturers have an obligation under the Food Act 1981 to ensure their products are safe for human consumption  Shocked  Again, studies have shown that most commonly available products have inaccurate labelling, are manufactured cheaply from poor quality materials, and are often not even soluble (and so can not be absorbed).

USANA is a publicly listed, cellular research company that specialises in human nutrition. They manufacture their own pharmaceutical (medical) grade products that conform to the highest standards possible (the British Pharmacopoeia).  Cool

----

While I was attracted by the long-term benefits. I reckon most people will notice some improvements after just two months on a quality supplement. For example:

A mate who got me into this business still plays club rugby (in his 40s). He reckons his old body doesn't protest so much about the treatment it gets on Saturdays  Cheesy

For me I was exhausted if I didn't get 8+ hrs sleep (and my 5 kids are a mixture of night-owls and early risers so I never do get 8 hrs Cheesy). After 2 months I don't seem to need quite so much sleep - I'm functioning pretty well on the 7-7˝ that I usually get.

I encourage you to do your own research - bear in mind that a lot of older studies try to isolate the benefits for individual vitamins while recent studies show they are more effective when working together. If you are already using a supplement you should find out how it rates in the comparative guide. I can tell you if you'd rather not buy the book.

Let me know if you want to try the product for a couple of months.

Cheers

Howdy chaps. The best time to protect your health is while you're still healthy.. but if you are interested in research and treatment for specific conditions, there might be some useful information in these PDFs

(edit) bugger. I hate frames - can't link you direct to the right spot...

Another good reason... tax advantages.

You can try running a Usana business and even if you fail totally (like me so far  Grin Grin  because usually I'm too lazy to tell people about it) ultimately it may not cost anything after you claim back taxes - and you get to use a world-leading health product.

cheers
