Refering to the Andre Watson who was the ref for that NZ-France match. He did made one noteable decision error about the forward pass. It could have cost the Kiwis the match. As well as the one in the last Bledisloe Cup 2002 (Sydney) where Jeremy Paul's try was disallowed. I hope Andre does not referee any more matches involved with the Wallabies this year. If he does, please ref in one of the Tri-Nations games or one of those pool group. We seem to have a poor record with Andre as the ref since the last WC final. Grin

...mu with his continuing kidney problems. But rookie Rokocoko is the perfect complement to the confirmed class of Doug Howlett on the right wing.

And, at 1.89m and 98kg, Rokocoko isn't too far off the dimensions that made Lomu a global legend.

The All Blacks got a further boost in another problem area when Jerry Collins put in a dynamic perf ...

let's compare .. 98kg v 115+
ok he's taller .. but really .. comparing rokocoko to lomu is silly ... comparing anyone to lomu is silly ... dont do it again ...

Yes and Spencer did that to perfection in the super 12 and last years NPC, he made the rest of the first fives in  the Southern Hemisphere look stupid,  including Mehrts!!! maybe if Mehrts had some decent game time he would have been able to prove that his defence and physical side of his game is up to it BUT HE HASNT!

Agreed, Merhts hasn’t had enough time to prove he is up to playing at the moment. Hopefully that changes as I still think that Spencer, who doesn’t seem to be able to step up a level from Super 12 very well, has yet to bring his A game in any of the internationals this year.
Also what happens if he gets injured, we haven’t tested any other combinations there and I think this needs to be done before the WC. Hence my suggestion of Mauger and Carter, tho I’m not sure who should play 10

Umm would that be the time that Spencer ran across field drew in the defence and then unleashed Rocokoco for his second try with a perfect inside pass? Roll Eyes Grin

Yes, It worked that time thanks to Rocokoco change the angles nicely but the majority of the time he ended up taking away the space from the rest of the backline. Watching some of the highlights last night proved to me that passing the ball beats the man, proved by Rocokoco's try in the corner. Wink No running sideways in that try!!

In the Super 12 Spencer has superior players in the midfield, particularly Tuitupou. Maybe Carter isnt up to Tuitupou's standard Huh Roll Eyes Tongue Mils and Gear tend not to drop the ball as much as Umaga either Undecided

Carter's much better than Tuitupou, no point even going there!!  Grin
Have to agree that Umaga is having a shocker so far. Far from his best!!

Quote
And his tactical kicking was a bit average, I mean, why the fuck do you just kick the ball aimlessly into the middle of the field (right into the opposition arms) when you are on defence. Should you be trying to relieve the pressure and find touch??

Maybe you should ask Mehrts that, it is a hallmark of his game Shocked

Maybe they both need lessons!! Angry

Heres and idea, how about no Cantabs! they (apart from maybe Jack) just aren't up to international standard. Embarrassed

It was the Canterbury/Otago (and Ali Embarrassed) forwards that let us down against France. Who cares about the backs, the forwards are too lazy to give them decent ball anyway.

What!! No McCaw - I’m sorry but he is the man!!!
Yes Ali was crap!!
I’m not impressed with Oliver either! Virtually the same forward pack did a lot better against the Poms! Collectively I think they were pretty crap.
A few stand outs tho
 - Collins was bloody good
 - McCaw was his usual self - everywhere
 - Jack played well
 - B Thorn when he came on was bloody good
 - Mealamu should start instead of Oliver every time

Here's what id like to see
the back three on the scrum as    :  Holah , Collins , McCaw

Never happen with Thorne as Captain! bugger it

I’m a Cantab man but the jury’s still out on Thorne for me!!

By the way, did you notice on test the nation last night the Cantabs were the most intelligent province?? Grin Grin Grin

Just a quick word in Spencer's defence.  Before the ABs were selected Grant Fox said Tuitupo was one of the keys to Spencer's game.  When Spencer was in trouble he could give the ball to Tuitupo who inveriably got over the advantage line.

Carter has a different game to Tuitupo and isn't a crash ahead man.  Umaga could have been against the Poms, but their defence was too good.  Fox's comments may also explain why Spencer's been throwing the short 'hospital passes;' against S12 defence Tuitupo could handle them.

After leading the Juniors to world cup victory could he make it into the Tri Nations ABs?  Outside either Carter, Spencer or Mehrtens?

Cheers
