Greetings Heads from Hertfordshire.
Managed to get myself to Oxford yesterday to watch our 'up and comers' deal it to the Aussie 'up and goners' in the final of the under 21 World Cup. Brilliant atmosphere. I think the stakes were even in numbers of Oz and Kiwi supporters, but as the NZers built a lead, the Aussies became quieter, and quieter and... Fantastic to see so many rugby devotees from the homeland on the other side of the world. Spent most of the match getting slowly plastered on cider with some young bloke from Blenheim. To see the haka performed so faraway from home put a lump in my throat too. Great effort by the boys. Nice trophy to go next to the 7's cup. Now for the big gold bastard.
Cheers all, Dave PB

Good game to the baby Blacks. That's the third time in a row that the Aussies have lost in the final. Arrgh!
Its just unfortunate that I only got to see the final as the earlier draw with NZ would have been good to watch as well. While the semi-finals would have been interesting too.

Didn't the Baby Boks won last year or the year before against the NZ (I think in NZ)?

Well, I thought there was one final where young Boks and All Blacks got involved in NZ. Oh well, must have been different age group or some other years before 2001!

SA beat NZ in the U-19 final this year, but that was held in France. I think the game that you are talking about 3me was the U-19 final in Auckland a few years back.
I can recall that the NZ team had quite a few guys playing in it that are good AB and Super 12 players now. Soialo, Aaron Mauger, Ben Blair, Carl Hayman, Oreni Ai'i. No doubt a few others.
Not sure what year that was though, maybe 2000?

Aaron Mauger was captain of the winning U21 squad in 2001. McCaw was in the team too.
In 2002 we lost the final but we played with: Carter, Tuituipo, Rokocoko, Ben Antiga, Tony Woodcock. And Corey Flynn too?
Definately worth checking these teams out as they quickly become star players.
