Well done you OZ legend! You've had a lot off QR baggage to carry but as a true fan you've stuck it out.... earning my admiration at least! Cool

Let's just hope OZ can still muster a better national team than indications suggest at present! Sad

BTW, I had to laugh at the statement attributed to you QRU Chairman, Peter Lewis when asked to comment on the ridiculous public spat between Knuckles , Chucky & Ewen McKenzie (has he a nickname too....could think of a couple Tongue)

"You've got this whole crazy situation where you have Eddie, Ewen & John Connolly barking at each other, so where is the ARU leadership in this? They are the paymasters, they are the peak body, so where the hell are they?

" They should have put the three of them in the same room & said, Get your act together or piss off'. I'm furious about it. It's all schoolgirl shit. Smack 'em in the head & tell them to get over it." Grin Grin Grin

Sounds like pretty good advice from this distance..... Peter must be a legend like you Geeves!   Lips Sealed

                                  Cheers,
                                      Baz  Wink

Thanks for that, Baz.

Your right I have a lot of baggage and not all of it attributable to the QR.

In regards to the game last night I really feel for some of the players especially Roe & Crofty who are without doubt some of the best players to wear their heart of their sleeve and never let anyone down.  This ability of this team to now capitulate is some of the hardest days I have had to suffer as a spectator.  You would think it gets easier after the horrific downward trend of results since McBain was terminated out of spite but it does not.

Australian rugby is at a cross roads and at the moment it resembles a head on crash between a train and a truck and the people meant to be in charge fixing it up appear to be on the sidelines puking up their guts and not dealing with the issues at hand.

Ridiculous mungo chasing and then shafting the rest of the players with inferior contracts, piss poor communication and attitudes between coaches fighting over the carcass of a super season and looking for someone to blame; and no leadership from the ARU is simply sickening.

This international season will role on and will start with a hiss and a roar and then turn into a whimper followed by another round of backstabbing and blamestorming unless someone takes hold of the reigns and as Peter Lewis said knock heads together.

Although don't get me wrong I'll still support the wallabies and I'm still banking on the AB's to fall at the semis come RWC time.  As we know what the Bangladeshi's did to SA in the cricket last night.  Go the underdog.

something you've always managed to do mate - make things perfectly clear amongst the mirk.
at the same time you've also managed to be quite a chuckle - please excuse the pun.
don't be retiring any time soon.

nice work Geeves.  I wonder if by the time you've got your next thousand up Oz will still have won the world cup more times then any other nation.

Thanks for the comments.

Now for the replies

Gwynn if I am writing quality then your expectations are way too low.

EJ by the time I reach my next 1000 I'm sure Aus has won another world cup and more WCs than anyone else.  The cricket WC finishes this month.  If you are talking about the RWC however, then I'm going to keep my contributions to less than 250 per year until 2011.

ndub anytime you want me to drop the boot in let me know.  While we are on the topic I am looking forward to reading the excuses regarding the Blues lost to the Sharks.  It's simple people they outplayed you on every level.  Typical kiwi over confidence that will cost you time after time.

cheers all

Geeves hits 1000 eh? Nice work big fella, your contributions to the site, and the board in particular are consistantly excellent, quite in contrast to the performance of your beloved Reds really!

Just confirms to me that you definitely should apply to take over from Eddie Munster when he gets the boot in a few weeks time!

Keep it up mate, you are indeed a legend.

Cheers, Jules
