one-eye on the prize

If you are keen on fantasy rugby and think you are ready to step up the pace then the boys from Fantasy Rugby have got the game for you.

Check out http://www.TestRugby.com for the premier RWC game on the net.

Unlike FantasyRugby.com games TestRugby isn't free (US$10 to play) but putting some money on the line means there is some serious cash available in the prize pool.  First prize is US$500.

You can sign up for free before the RWC kicks off and check out the site and build your team (it's quite a bit slicker and the game is a bit more involved than the FantasyRugby games), however if you actually want to compete you have to pay up the $10 before the tourney starts.

If this reads a bit like an ad I apologise but I am really keen on this game and the guys from Fantasy Rugby have done a great job and really deserve to be successful with this new venture.

Although the fact that they have enlisted Black Toddadder as one of their experts is a bit of a worry! (although I guess BT could still select a team full of Cantabs given the number of them in the AB squad!!)

Anyway get into it and join the RugbyHeads conference. I'm picking that because this is the first pay-to-play competition that they have run there may not be a huge number of people playing, which means it's a great time to get in and have a good shot at the prizes.

Steady on with the wise-cracks about my fantasy expertise Jules, the FantasyRugby boys obviously can recognise true genius when they see it.

I guarentee* that if you follow the advice that I give on the TestRugby site you'll be well in the hunt for the big $$.

Stop pissing around reading this, get over to www.testrugby.com  and sign up.

Bloody Hell, BT,

I think you are getting confused with the night DH vowed to eat his eight year old baggy Y-Fronts if Australia won the World Cup and Jules responded by upping the stakes with a promise to have an Auckland Blues logo tattooed on his shiny cranium if England won.

Only 267 entries total at the moment.

10 are in the Rugbyheads division now, so I think that means there is a T-Shirt up for grabs for the top Rugbyhead - in addition to the bragging rights Cool (10 more entries to make it a Polo shirt - woohoo)

I assume you've all paid? The free trial period has been extended, but should finish in a few hours.

Jeepers.

When they cut all the non subscribers thic comp dropped to just 70 entries. That means that the prizes are worth more than the total entries - as a statistician let me tell you :

THAT'S BLOODY GOOD ODDS  Shocked

Be in to win. Also I think we need a few more Rugbyheads to get our T shirt back Grin

I've just found an interesting point about Trades in the rules:

Ongoing Management of Your Team
An allocation of Trades will be made twice during the competition, once at the beginning for the Round Robin games and once at the start of the knock-out games such as Quarter Finals, Semi's and Finals. Trades for the 2003 RWC series will be allocated in the following manner:

20 Trades at the start of the series for the Pool play
15 Trades at the start of the quarters, semi's and finals
* 5 additional Trades will be available for competitors to buy during the series for US$7.50. This option can only be used once by any given competitor during the series.

As a virtual franchise manager you can use these trades to ensure your mix of players is optimised through out the series. Sell injured players, buy on-form players etc.

Who's willing to part with more $$$ to stay in the hunt Huh

Cheers

Man. I needed to spend a lot more time checking out this competition.

My first mistake was assuming that the draw was the same as for the free game. In that game you wanted Irish players for the first two rounds, but in this one they don't play in round two. I wasn't keen to waste trades fixing this error because I thought I only had 20 for the whole competition. Now you tell me i will get another 15! #@*!

All in all, a bit of a screw-up.  Angry

In the free game however, I am still doing fine (probably fortunate that all you pros managed to get invalid teams for round 1) Grin

Testrugby.com is a superb site and deserved a heap more entries than it got. Doesn't worry me though cuz it gives us more chances to win !! Strategy is different in here too as the rounds didnt line up with  the other comps so you had to be on your toes, for instance Round 3 had none of the top 5 teams playing so you had to ditch those players then buy them back after. A few picked up on that but many suffered.

They are starting a 6 nations comp and I am definately into that. Well worth the punt cost
