Damn but I thought Tony Woodcock was exceptionally lucky to stay on the park on Saturday night.

The in my opinion the blatant piece of foul play when he put a cheep shot on Saia Faingaa who was not impeding a ball was worth at least a yellow.

You would have thought that after all the SA comments about AB's and RWC time that Kaplan would have marched him off with a yellow. But hell no and no citing commissioner sanction either.  Now WTF.  Good old consistency there.

Damn but I'm struggling not to accept a SA point of view about the AB protected species line.  But the ref and citing commissioner were both SA.

Well yep, it looked nasty, and based on consistency week-to-week I was surprised at no yellow as well.

Of course you have to bear in mind the backlash over the excess of yellow cards "ruining the spectacle" I think Kaplan decided that the reversed penalty would do for the game, and that the citing comm would get him later. I have no explanation for no citing - who was it? I'm sure we can find a conspiracy in there   Lips Sealed.

I find it ironic that Saia was doing exactly what riles up the Oi Oi fans though.. They regularly post about the violent actions that WBs should take when ever ABs fall in that space behind the ruck.

Saia made a piss-useless effort to move away, while we were on attack in the red-zone, and Woodcock made a surprisingly idiotic effort to shift him.

I agree should have been cited.

I was fully expecting a yellow card for that. It was a stupid thing todo, even if the guy was infringing in a "ohh look at me, I'm getting up really slowly, I hope I'm not disrupting play *yawn*.......OUCH!" way.

Should have been yellow!

cheers

I agree he deserved a yellow, such a cynical, and clearly mindless action from a player who is possibly feeling under pressure from the Franks boys coming through?

Truthfully but ironically I guess, I'm glad no yellow was dished out & it stayed a fair contest. Penalise the guy & let the game continue. Citing him afterwards if it really warrants. [IMO I don't think woodcock's action should warrant a suspension of a game or so]
Personally feel the yellow gets pulled from the pocket far too easily, but thats just me. where I don't mind a yellow being dished out is for continued infringements, 5 to 10m out from goal line.

senseless yellows - Drew Mitchell, Danie Russouw, and some of those so called "spear tackles"

I don't mind spear tackles getting carded, as they are very dangerous.

I think some tackles where they are pinged for using their shoulders only are a bit harsh. You don't want to go the Rugby League way where senseless shoulder charges happen where shoulders frequently hit chins etc. Thats disgraceful! Sickening actually.

But some tackles where there is intent to wrap arms around the player, but first contact is a BIG shoulder, is very harshly penalised. And its actually fairly obvious to see someone who has run up solely to shoulder charge, against someone who is trying to put a big tackle on, but was a little late getting the arms in the right place. It should be about intent, not what actually ended up happening. Nothing wrong with a big hit!

cheers
